Bob Devany, PG, CEG, CHG
  Managing Partner and Principal Hydrogeologist
As Weiss’s managing partner, Bob Devany draws on more than 30 years of experience as a certified engineering geologist and hydrogeologist to provide the technical guidance and quality oversight that Weiss is known for. In fact, Mr. Devany played a major role in building the company’s reputation for quality, since he has been with Weiss since 1985 – the year the company was incorporated.
Mr. Devany has served as Weiss’s principal hydrogeologist since 2006, and has been managing complex, multi-million-dollar environmental remediation projects for over two decades, including a Department of Energy prime contract that exceeds $30 million. As a subject matter expert in Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) and Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) regulations, he has overseen the successful remediation of radionuclides, hexavalent chromium, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and volatile organic compounds in soil, soil gas, and groundwater.
Mr. Devany's extensive site investigation and characterization experience includes hydrogeologic interpretation, aquifer testing, risk assessment, and radiological dose assessment. His site remediation experience extends to modeling contaminant fate and transport, evaluating remedial technologies and alternatives, evaluating natural attenuation for contaminated soil and groundwater, designing extraction wells, and conducting removal actions. In addition, he has more than 20 years of experience managing, treating, storing, and disposing of non-hazardous, hazardous, and radioactive waste. Mr. Devany has also managed non-CERCLA projects dealing with the investigation and cleanup of radionuclides, fuel hydrocarbons, PCBs, pesticides, 1,4-dioxane, metals, and chlorinated hydrocarbons, and he has managed projects dealing with vapor intrusion, demolition and decommissioning of industrial facilities, and site redevelopment.
In addition to his in-depth technical expertise, Mr. Devany is a skilled communicator who understands multiple stakeholder perspectives. He has facilitated community relations and has extensive experience interacting and negotiating with state and federal regulatory agencies.
Mr. Devany is committed to ensuring that Weiss retains its solid reputation for providing value and innovative solutions to meet our client’s environmental challenges.
